So grab your passport and let's get started...
Two years ago, after running businesses and spending many years as full time residents living at the tip of the Baja Peninsula, Cabo
San Lucas, we decided it was time for a change from the beautiful ecology of Los Cabos... ... to a destination which would enable us to re-invigorate our souls with some of the world's most fascinating art, music, history and culture.
Our exploration trip was going to be for a month and we would restrict ourselves to covering only some of Carmen's favorite parts of central Mexico, the region known as the Bajio, a region which we both considered as an ideal and safe place to spend the next chapter of our lives. Our Mexico Travel trip begins in Guadalajara and ends up in the city which we both found to be the perfect balance for our lifestyle, San Miguel de Allende in the state of Guanajuato. At the end of our brief journey, we were clearly able to make our final decision about our relocation, which was to make San Miguel de Allende our new home. Wealthy or trying to live on a fixed income, there is always an outstretched hand from the locals to outsiders. San Miguel's residents are a vibrant mix of Mexicans, American and Canadian ex-patriots, and seasonal visitors.
On this particular trip, which we explore by car, we visit Ajijic, Lake Chapala, Morelia, Puebla, Tepoztlan, Cuernavaca, Malinalco, Patzcuaro, Chalula, Guanajuato, Queretero and San Miguel de Allende. Our web site also covers many of our other favorite spots in Mexico that we didn't actually cover on this trip, but have visited or have lived in previously.
Later, we hope you will share your stories and photographs here on our web site: best-of-mexico-travel.com so that you can join us as contributors to this constantly expanding knowledge base and then we can all pay our experiences forward, as they say.
